Fondation Zinsou 16.02.08 > 06.06.08 The 2007 Art Biennale of Venice showed pieces of African contemporary art for the first time in history.The jury presented its highest distinction, the Gold Lion, to Malick Sidibé. The portraits malick has been making for 60 years are not a mere image of his models, they all seem to be self-portraits. All these snapshots, taken at picnics and parties, are portraits of Africa´s youth as he has always wanted to show it, to astonish the world. They are light-years away from a social or news coverage.
