One of the most original contemporary artists and an established leading figure on the international scene, Mimmo Paladino has developed a personal vocabulary regenerated through an overall vision of the creative experience.
As he stated in 1985: “Brushes alone are no longer enough for artists. A sort of Total Art is necessary precisely in the light of all the attempts already made.” In his art-historical and critical analysis of Paladino’s work from 1963 to the present, Germano Celant pinpoints his contribution to the renewal of painting, taken first into environments and then also encompassing photography and sculpture, architecture and cinema, opera and theatre.
