Francis Poulenc

Francis Poulenc was one of the most accessible and versatile composers of the twentieth century. He was also a man whose life and art was influenced by two powerful forces, his lifelong homosexuality and a profund conversion to Catholicism when he was in his mid-thirties. These two influences were never fully reconciled in his life, yes through his work, as Richard Burton´s Outline reveals, it is possible to see the beginnig of a synthesis.
