This book sheds new light on the interpretation of the country´ s transformation, arguing thet the relationship with the European Community was the crucial external factor detrmining political evolution, and that Europeanism was one of the very few aims over which the necessary consensus was reached, to enable the transsition to and consolidation of democracy.
